Exhibitions are as much a physical experience as an intellectual one. In the impossibility of meeting in person – as the space of Fotogalleriet is closed until further notice in the light of the current pandemic crisis – we find new forms of meaningful collectivity. This is an invitation to use art as a space for inspiration, solace and critical thinking.
This year's edition of the Spring Exhibition, curated by Sverre Strandberg and produced by FFF, offers a meditation on climate change and threats that affect the Earth's current status quo. As a peer-to-peer survey of the regional artistic production, these themes preceded the Covid-19 outbreak and become even more stringent with today's states of emergency.
On Thursday, 2nd of April, you'll get a unique opportunity to meet the artists and hear about their practice through a selection of works from the exhibition. It will also provide a chance to see the exhibition in a new light alongside the singular artistic contributions.
Artists presenting their work will include:
Tor-Finn Malum Fitje
The presentations will be moderated by Fotogalleriet's Artistic Director Antonio Cataldo, and will be held predominantly in English to give wider access to online audiences.Preceding the artist talks a selection of videos from Ad Nauseam by Tor-Finn Malum Fitje, in collaboration with Thomas Anthony Hill, and Accidentally I got a GoPro by Yamile Calderón and Edward Cunniffe will be made available for online screening from 13:00-15:00.
We suggest you bring your coffee and cookies to your screen, ready to follow remotely on Facebook live or actively by joining the meeting online (all links will be made available shortly on Fotogalleriet's webpage and Facebook).
Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
